VBINE Energy is a Canadian-based renewable energy provider that specializes in vertical axis wind turbine (VAWT) for private and industrial settings. Founded by Barry Ireland, president and CEO, VBINE Energy aims to provide an alternative energy source that is environment-friendly, efficient, and economical.

The current target market of VBINE Energy focuses on several industrial, rural, and urban platforms such as communication towers, water towers, high-rise buildings, foundries, factories and more. Compared to traditional VAWTs, the equipment that VBINE Energy uses has a more intricate design. This unique design allows for minimal installation prerequisites and can be mounted with or without existing platforms.

VBINE Energy is the registered trade name of BRI Energy Solutions Ltd. which was established on November, 2005. Their primary objective was to create a contemporary vertical axis turbine using a permanent magnet generator (PMG).

The first ever BRI VAWT was made in Moosomin, Saskatchewan, Canada. The first turbines were originally intended for smokestacks, but were later redesigned due to a partnership proposal from a large telecommunications company. They requested a vertical axis wind turbine for telecommunications towers with the following special requirements:

  • a) it should not rotate more than 160 RPM to avoid radio magnetic frequency;
  • b) it should self-start on its own in low wind situations;
  • c) it should produce 5kW of power in peak energy for battery charging;
  • d) it should possess little-to-no vibration;
  • e) it should be maintenance-free.

4 years later, VBINE Energy VAWTs were in use by a large number of telecommunications towers across the globe.

The company’s top-of-the-line product is the 12-foot by 9-foot wind turbine generator, the VBINE Energy 11-05 VAWT. It has two 6-foot wind panels across a 9-foot wide base capable of delivering up to 5kW on peak conditions which is very ideal for rural areas and towers.

The second model is a newly-designed 6-foot by 6-foot wind turbine generator, the VBINE Energy 11-02.99 VAWT. This 2.99 kW Vbine turbine is more suited for urban settings due to its smaller scale and reliable power output.

Both models provide the same features: little-to-no vibration and decibel output, automatic start in low wind conditions, mountable top panel, and rotary efficiency and reliability. Both VBINE wind turbines have also proven to be 100 percent environment-friendly. and, like most VAWT’s, these wind turbines will operate in wind coming from any direction.

One of the best features of the VBINE VAWT is its maintenance-free design. VBINE’s turbine uses direct-drive technology.where the generator is a permanent magnet generator with two long-life bearings with no drive shaft. It has less intricate parts that could create malfunctions compared to the gear boxes of traditional wind turbines.

Each VBINE VAWT has a life expectancy of up to 30 years with little-to-no maintenance required.

All VBINE Energy VAWTs are manufactured in Winkler, Manitoba, Canada.
